GOING ON

---It's been a bit since I've last blogged. Went to Atlanta to surprise my cousin after she got engaged! Saw Jack Johnson perform with family and friends. Rafted down the Ocoee. (via ROW)
Now it's back to babysitting and making cappuccinos!

---I have been noticing these adverts by womens designer,Diane Von Furstenberg. Turns out she hired Francois-Marie Banier to shoot and paint and manifest his vision for her 2008 spring campaign. In my opinion the results are beautiful and captivating...quite different from the typical ads seen today.
It is said that he was inspired by von Furstenberg's desire to reflect the DNA of the brand -- the power of women and their courage -- Banier produced some 50 black and white images, and with strong brushstrokes, smudges, and spatters, he applied bold color and writing to each photograph to create layers of complexity, both visual and emotional, seducing the eye and the mind.

***aren't they stunning?!! S’il vous plaĆ®t,check out Francois-Marie Banier. Born and raised in Paris, he has captured the city (it's people!) like no other...

---In other news, Obama has asked Biden to be his running mate. Baton Rouge, Louisiana does not recycle plastic bags(hence, the reason Whole Foods and other grocers stopped using them, but many have not), so please bring your own bag and remind me to do the same! There is a clothing line EDUN est. in 2005 by trail-blazers Ali Hewson and her hubby (that would be BONO) that I admire for it specializes in Organic Clothing, Graphic Tees, and Eco Clothing with a mission to drive sustainable employment in developing economies. In particular, I adore this scarf: And last but not least, I'm really feelin' this new Gnarles Barkley video! (view it below :)

This organic scarf sends a mindful message with script lyrics emblazoned across the eco-friendly fabric.

With words written by Rainer Maria Rilke, one of the great modern lyricists of Germany, the scarf explains that objects are only that. This scarf a sweet reminder to focus on inner contentment instead of the thrill of acquiring ever more material possessions.

Here's a poem by Rainer:

The Apple Orchard

Come let us watch the sun go down
and walk in twilight through the orchard's green.
Does it not seem as if we had for long
collected, saved and harbored within us
old memories? To find releases and seek
new hopes, remembering half-forgotten joys,
mingled with darkness coming from within,
as we randomly voice our thoughts aloud
wandering beneath these harvest-laden trees
reminiscent of Durer woodcuts, branches
which, bent under the fully ripened fruit,
wait patiently, trying to outlast, to
serve another season's hundred days of toil,
straining, uncomplaining, by not breaking
but succeeding, even though the burden
should at times seem almost past endurance.
Not to falter! Not to be found wanting!

Thus must it be, when willingly you strive
throughout a long and uncomplaining life,
committed to one goal: to give yourself!
And silently to grow and to bear fruit.
