Cut to the Crew.

J.Crew

---The classic and all-together-lovely clothing store has a new section for the kids called CrewCuts. Now while buying a $40 tee-shirt for your 4 year old is beyond ridiculous, I'm sure they have sales....if not, the photos will have to suffice (for they are ADORABLE).

*Also, these are two great J.Crew videos from Paris and Praha (Prague!).*

Words of Winston...Churchill, that is. :

---I may be drunk, Miss, but in the morning I will be sober and you will still be ugly.

---The best argument against democracy is a five-minute conversation with the average voter.

---The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of miseries.

---I am never going to have anything more to do with politics or politicians. When this war is over I shall confine myself entirely to writing and painting.

GOING ON

---It's been a bit since I've last blogged. Went to Atlanta to surprise my cousin after she got engaged! Saw Jack Johnson perform with family and friends. Rafted down the Ocoee. (via ROW)
Now it's back to babysitting and making cappuccinos!

---I have been noticing these adverts by womens designer,Diane Von Furstenberg. Turns out she hired Francois-Marie Banier to shoot and paint and manifest his vision for her 2008 spring campaign. In my opinion the results are beautiful and captivating...quite different from the typical ads seen today.
It is said that he was inspired by von Furstenberg's desire to reflect the DNA of the brand -- the power of women and their courage -- Banier produced some 50 black and white images, and with strong brushstrokes, smudges, and spatters, he applied bold color and writing to each photograph to create layers of complexity, both visual and emotional, seducing the eye and the mind.

***aren't they stunning?!! S’il vous plaĆ®t,check out Francois-Marie Banier. Born and raised in Paris, he has captured the city (it's people!) like no other...

---In other news, Obama has asked Biden to be his running mate. Baton Rouge, Louisiana does not recycle plastic bags(hence, the reason Whole Foods and other grocers stopped using them, but many have not), so please bring your own bag and remind me to do the same! There is a clothing line EDUN est. in 2005 by trail-blazers Ali Hewson and her hubby (that would be BONO) that I admire for it specializes in Organic Clothing, Graphic Tees, and Eco Clothing with a mission to drive sustainable employment in developing economies. In particular, I adore this scarf: And last but not least, I'm really feelin' this new Gnarles Barkley video! (view it below :)

This organic scarf sends a mindful message with script lyrics emblazoned across the eco-friendly fabric.

With words written by Rainer Maria Rilke, one of the great modern lyricists of Germany, the scarf explains that objects are only that. This scarf a sweet reminder to focus on inner contentment instead of the thrill of acquiring ever more material possessions.

Here's a poem by Rainer:

The Apple Orchard

Come let us watch the sun go down
and walk in twilight through the orchard's green.
Does it not seem as if we had for long
collected, saved and harbored within us
old memories? To find releases and seek
new hopes, remembering half-forgotten joys,
mingled with darkness coming from within,
as we randomly voice our thoughts aloud
wandering beneath these harvest-laden trees
reminiscent of Durer woodcuts, branches
which, bent under the fully ripened fruit,
wait patiently, trying to outlast, to
serve another season's hundred days of toil,
straining, uncomplaining, by not breaking
but succeeding, even though the burden
should at times seem almost past endurance.
Not to falter! Not to be found wanting!

Thus must it be, when willingly you strive
throughout a long and uncomplaining life,
committed to one goal: to give yourself!
And silently to grow and to bear fruit.

__________Stranger than Fiction

---FICTION is defined as the class of literature comprising works of imaginative narration, esp. in prose form.It is also, according to Rev. Chris Andrews of First Methodist (downtown BR!)a rich stream in which to explore theology. Where stories unfold out of an author’s imagination and, in very good stories, where we find ourselves or some aspect of our own quest for God or God’s quest for us. A good work of fiction can lead to a burning bush, a Damascus Road, an Emmaus encounter...you never know where a story can take you.

*Currently attempting to read: A Room with A View, by E.M.Forster, What is What by Dave Eggers and The River Why

---Here is the ending quote from the literary film "Stranger than Fiction" which manifests to a certain extent what Mr. Andrews stated above!(i adore this film!)

Novelist, Kay Eiffel:

As Harold took a bite of Bavarian sugar cookie, he finally felt as if everything was going to be ok. Sometimes, when we lose ourselves in fear and despair, in routine and constancy, in hopelessness and tragedy, we can thank God for Bavarian sugar cookies. And, fortunately, when there aren't any cookies, we can still find reassurance in a familiar hand on our skin, or a kind and loving gesture, or subtle encouragement, or a loving embrace, or an offer of comfort, not to mention hospital gurneys and nose plugs, an uneaten Danish, soft-spoken secrets, and Fender Stratocasters, and maybe the occasional piece of fiction. And we must remember that all these things, the nuances, the anomalies, the subtleties, which we assume only accessorize our days, are effective for a much larger and nobler cause. They are here to save our lives. I know the idea seems strange, but I also know that it just so happens to be true. And, so it was, a wristwatch saved Harold Crick.

What is LOVE?

Ahh yes, Love is a many splendored thing...all you need is Love...Love is more delightful than wine (s.o.s 1:2)...there is no fear in Love! (1 john 4:18)

I like how this man (forgive me for I forgot the author!) says it...

Love is More than a Rose

Don’t let anyone tell you that love is a rose.
Love is a weed. It grows wild. It flourishes where it is trampled; it multiplies where it is ripped from the ground. Its roots grow deeper through suffering, stronger through storms.
Don’t believe that love is a beautiful flower.
Love is a cactus. It thrives in the most barren places. It collects the precious water of the desert and willingly sheds its tough skin to offer a drink to the thirsty traveler.
Don’t look for love in the colors of nature, in the freshness of spring, or in sunrises and sunsets.
Love is the old tree that gives its wood for warmth and its fruit for food. It welcomes into its branches every bird of the sky; it shelters every animal of the woods. It gives everything it has—and keeps giving as its roots give birth to new trees that take on the God-like work of giving.
Love is the unwelcome rain that fills every creek and stream.
Love is the dark earth that nurtures every root to harvest.
Love is the seed that dies to become something greater than itself.
Don’t get carried away with romantic notions of love.
Love is as real as dirt, as generous as water, as giving as seed.

(AMEN! to that!:)

A Princess with a Sensitive Gangster.

So I just returned from
Nashville (visited a miss Katherine Holly!) and Pensacola beach with my family.

Now, I am back to babysitting...
<---Isabella Sophia
and Nathan---> :)

---Bella is a princess everyday, allll the day (princess LA light sandals please...oh and don't forget my princess pull-ups!) and Nathan...is either a monkey (the boy knows no fear. gravity? hmph. that doesn't exist yet!) or a sensitive gangster (throwin' fits and grunts). In that photo I think I'll go with the latter of the two :)

& Here is a song that is soothing like a river, running through my head over and over...

love Jose Gonzales!
